The fatal victim costs PLN 2.4 million. Injured - more, as much as PLN 3.3 million. The published report of the National Road Safety Council shows that we are all victims of accidents. The death toll in 2019 increased again. The report shows that the social costs of all road incidents in Poland in 2018 amounted to PLN 56.6 billion. Including 44.9 billion are accident costs and 11.7 billion collisions. Almost 1/3 of this amount is generated by events at pedestrian crossings.

The world's first walking fatality in a car accident was a 44-year-old London resident, a housewife, who died in the Cristal Palace neighborhood on August 17, 1896. After the death certificate was issued, the coroner expressed the hope that “a similar thing will never happen again.” Unfortunately, time has revealed a completely different reality.

Each year, more than 270 000 pedestrians lose their lives on the world’s roads. Globally, pedestrians account for more than one fifth of all fatalities, and there are countries where this percentage is as high as two-thirds. There is probably no man who has not, directly or indirectly, encountered the tragedy of a road accident.
